building on both the reflective practice suggestion and the community engagement suggestions: cross-cultural provision/competence
Hi,
Great list. Enough for 10 unconferences.
I would like a session where we talk about creativity and libraries. I am interested in staff creativity and play, and how that can enrich a library (a topic suggested above)… but would also like to see a separate session about how libraries can facilitate creativity in their communities – can they? If so, why and how? Can it be measured? Should it be?
Very tangentially – I do not know what the surfaces are like around Melbourne Uni, but would it be possible to do a skate-up beforehand, with people bringing their skateboards, blades or quads … or even meeting for brekky at a cafe before skating in to the event ? … Just a thought….
I think a skate-up would be awesome!!
Hi Kathryn,
I’m not sure if all the surfaces are perfect, but I had a few fellow students when I was at Melbourne (some time ago) who would wear blades all the time – they lived nearby and would skate in. I’m sure you’d be able to find a suitable cafe nearby (Lygon St is only two small blocks away, for a start). From the CBD, it’s uphill nearly all the way to Melbourne University – not a huge gradient, but noticable on a bicycle.
Would love to talk and exchange ideas with librarians and others on digital curation in teaching and learning. Look at new curation tools, possible uses in classroom, differences or not between teacher curation and library curation… etc etc
The following topics would be interesting:
* ebooks – when publishers remove content how does this impact on research and preservation of ideas?
* Managing/working with difficult people (staff and patrons)
* Overcoming the assumption that everyone can read (particularly important when you look at the 50% of the population with learning/reading difficulties)
